Despite only being available for a week, the newly released Neo Geo X Gold handheld console has been hacked. The previously bundled-with-20-games system can now be modified to read any Neo Geo ROMs of your choice - allowing the likes of the entire Metal Slug & King Of Fighters series to be enjoyed on the device early.
To be fair, this is something we all expected to happen, but maybe not quite as quick as it did. Daring early adopters of the new SNK system have opened up the device to find a somewhat unsecured method of storing the selection of games on offer; a removable MicroSD card on the motherboard instead of on-board memory.
By taking this unsecured and questionably placed storage card out of its reader, you'll be able to take a look at the handheld's contents, including the game ROMs. To play additional games not included with the device, you'll need to rename the ROM of your choice to that of one found on the device already - tricking they system into booting it up from the system's menu.
