iOS And Android Games Of The Week: December 7, 2012

This is a great week for iOS games, with several high profile titles to download. That didn't make our pick any less predictable. We had a hunch that a certain 10-year-old classic would easily win the award, and it did exactly that, thanks to an enhanced port that runs quite beautifully on the newer iPhone and iPad. Android, on the other hand, left us frustrated, with two high profile titles missing their expected release dates. That said, let's begin.

iOS: Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

Not much of a surprise, yes? Rockstar did outstanding work bringing?GTA Vice City?to smartphones and tablets. Not only is the content fully intact, from the sprawling Miami-inspired locale to the quality soundtrack, but the publisher also improved its creation. Now, players can enjoy superior visuals and lighting effects, iCloud saves, custom controls, tweaked targeting and shooting, the option to play music from one's iTune's playlist and Retina support. Sure, the absence of a tangible controller is somewhat of a letdown, but the option to bring this award-winning effort with us on the go is too cool to ignore. Now if only Rockstar would get around to releasing the Android version.

Android: Angry Birds Seasons

With both?Vice City?and?Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour?missing in action, we decided to go with an oldie but goodie,?Angry Birds Seasons. Rovio just updated its content-rich offering with Winter Wonderham, a level pack that comes with 25 brand-new stages to master, along with ice, which adds a different element of strategy to solving puzzles. If you're into Angry Birds and love a great deal (And who doesn't?), you should download this title ASAP.
