Summoner Chronicles. Save heaven, hell, and earth.

(first of this isn't a high school rp. The academy is a base and wont be used for much of anything but a base and an area for your character to learn about the art of summoning. I would say 80 percent of the game will probably be out on missions, developing story, and investigating.)

Summoning is an art that was used by some of the greatest hunters in memory. Atticus the great, Martha the slayer, and Bob the unspoken. In past time summoners were praised for their skill, their intelligence, and their nobility. In present times though summoners are looked upon as monster sympathizers. Filth that sides with the things they are supposed to hunt. The summoning class at the hunting institution is small, drafty, and in an expanded utility closet. The only students that are put in the class are those that don't know better, are seen with great potential for nothing but summoning, or those that have dreams of the glorious past of summoning.

There are five positions open. Though I could work with three. This rp won't have a massive roster because I've seen far too many good rp's die due to there being way to many people involved.

I'm looking for dedicated players that want to have a good time. The roleplay isn't completely finished yet, but the bones are there and I just need to flesh it out a bit. I still have some things to define and explain, but I would like players to ask questions to help me know what I need to explain exactly. It shouldn't take more than a few days for me to finish everything up.

So please come and join us! I'm hoping for a long haul here and I have epic plans in mind.

IsoHunt to Shut Down After Settlement With Hollywood Studios

The Motion Picture Association of America has announced that it has reached a settlement with the operators of IsoHunt, one of the larger BitTorrent indexers, which in its heyday was handling several million torrents for some 7.5 million unique visitors.

After being sued by Hollywood studios for massive copyright infringement, IsoHunt will now shutter, according to the terms of the deal, and the parties have jointly asked a California federal court to enter a judgment of $110 million against the defendants. The settlement also is said to include a global prohibition against founder Gary Fung further profiting from the infringement of MPAA member studio content.

EARLIER: Studio Fight Against IsoHunt Gets Trial Date

“Today’s settlement is a major step forward in realizing the enormous potential of the Internet as a platform for legitimate commerce and innovation,” said former Sen. Chris Dodd, chairman and chief executive of the MPAA. “It also sends a strong message that those who build businesses around encouraging, enabling and helping others to commit copyright infringement are themselves infringers, and will be held accountable for their illegal actions.”

The development comes in advance of a scheduled trial date next month; the MPAA had been aiming to collect hundreds of millions of dollars in damages.

It also occurs after a ruling last March by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals to affirm the liability of IsoHunt for inducing users to infringe plaintiffs’ copyrighted material through the trading of popular movies and TV shows. The plaintiffs, led by Columbia Pictures, originally submitted 44 infringed works, but later said there were thousands of movies and TV shows being infringed by IsoHunt. The appeals court rejected Fung's contention that his service was just indexing what was out there, saying it had “red flag” knowledge of a broad range of infringing activity.

IsoHunt's lawyers declined comment.

The settlement likely will mean the end of the company, which is currently ranked as the 426th most-visited website on the Internet, according to Alexa.com.

Economists: Shutdown Will Shave Half-Percent From Quarterly GDP

The government shutdown has taken a toll on the nation's economy and despite a deal that sidesteps a debt default and restarts the government (at least for a few months), growth forecasts for the last quarter of the year are being scaled back.

Economist Mark Zandi, of Moody's Analytics, has shaved his gross domestic product forecast from 2.6 percent to 2.1 percent for the last three months of the calendar year.

"If the treasury fails to make payments to Social Security recipients and Medicare providers, to bondholders, whoever that may be, it would clearly undermine (investor) confidence and would lay the foundation for the economy going back into recession," Zandi says. "And if this would extend for any length of time, into November, I think the recession we would see would be severe, on par with the Great Recession, the downturn we just went through."

Standard & Poor's says the 16-day partial shutdown cost U.S. taxpayers $24 billion. It reduced its projected fourth quarter growth from 3 percent to 2.4 percent.

The New York Times says:

"Even with the shutdown of the United States government and the threat of a default coming to an end, the cost of Congress's gridlock has already run well into the billions, economists estimate. And the total will continue to grow even after the shutdown ends, partly because of uncertainty about whether lawmakers might reach another deadlock early next year.

A complete accounting will take months once the government reopens and the Treasury resumes adding to the country's debt. But economists said that the intransigence of House Republicans would take a bite out of fourth-quarter growth, which will affect employment, business earnings and borrowing costs. The ripple from Washington will be felt around the globe."

And The Washington Post writes:

"[The] the biggest failure of the agreement, analysts say, is that it keeps the government operating for only a few months, with a new need to fund agencies and raise the debt ceiling coming in the first five weeks of 2014.

As a result, economists say, consumers and businesses are likely to hold back on spending and investment during the important holiday season, knowing that a similarly economy-shaking political showdown might be right around the corner.

'If people are afraid that the government policy brinkmanship will resurface again, and with it the risk of another shutdown or worse, they'll remain afraid to open up their checkbooks,' Standard & Poor's U.S. chief economist Beth Ann Bovino said in an analysis. 'That points to another Humbug holiday season.'"

In the Federal Reserve's monthly Beige Book report, released on Wednesday, the central bank cited fears that the shutdown would have an impact on consumer and business confidence.

Peter Chernin

COLOGNE, Germany – 20th Century Fox Television has picked up adaptation rights for Norwegian thriller Mammon from indie distributor DRG.

Peter Chernin and Katherine Pope will executive produce the U.S. version of the series via Chernin Entertainment. UTA brokered the deal.

The original series, from Norwegian public broadcaster NRK, focuses on Peter, an investigative journalist working for the country's top newspaper. He uncovers evidence of massive financial fraud which points to his own brother. When he breaks the story, his brother commits suicide and Peter begins a search for the truth, which leads him to the highest levels of Norwegian society.

The first, six-episode season of Mammon will debut on NRK in January, but the series has already been renewed for a second season.  This is the first Norwegian series to be picked up for a U.S. remake, though mobster-out-of-water dramedy Lilyhammer, starring Steven Van Zandt, another NRK production, goes out on Netflix.

Mammon was created by sibling writer/producer team Gjermund and Vegard Steinberg Eriksen. Actress Cecilie A. Mosli (Elling) will direct the Norwegian series.

Escape Plan: Film Review

The spirit of 1980s Cannon Films rises from the grave in Escape Plan. With Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger taking on roles that, back in those days, might have been played by Chuck Norris and Dolph Lundgren, it's a chance to relive the cheesy look, demented plotting, cardboard characterizations and tacky style that characterized the lower tier of action filmmaking once upon a time. They just don't make 'em like this anymore, and it's a good thing, too. A portion of the Expendables audience will reliably turn out for this claptrap, but it really is a blown opportunity to do something at least amusing, if not special, with the two still-pumping muscle-bound legends.

Devising a story that would enable Stallone and Schwarzenegger to share the screen for more than a few seconds, as in the first two Expendables installments, is the only justification for a jerry-rigged venture like Escape Plan. Stallone remains his customary taciturn self in the role of a high-security guru who gets himself incarcerated in allegedly escape-proof prisons just to ingeniously devise ways to get out. But Schwarzenegger, as the sharpest inmate in the most tightly sealed slammer of all, gets pretty amped up here in some of the dialogue scenes (notably one in which he switches into speaking German), suggesting he might be ready for some different sorts of parts than what he's been known for in the past.

PHOTOS: Senior Superheroes: 19 Action Stars Kicking Butt Past 50

Just as imperturbable as ever, Stallone plays Ray Breslin, the renowned author of the definitive tome on prison security, who somehow manages to anonymously get himself locked up in the toughest prisons in the United States (14 and counting) and then break out, thus exposing their deficiencies. His office partners who have his back are played by the not entirely convincing team of Amy Ryan, Vincent D'Onofrio and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson.

Normally, Ray is implanted with a sensor so that his partners know where he's incarcerated. But when he accepts a lucrative invitation from the CIA to test his abilities in a secret, corporately run joint where really bad types are sent to permanently disappear, Ray ends up on his own there under the name of Portos (the fourth musketeer). The cells in this vast chamber, which bears a passing resemblance to the industrial core in Monsters Inc., are clear glass, enabling the inmates to be seen at all times. If you're really a bad boy, you get sent to cramped quarters where banks of bright lights keep you warm, toasty and virtually blinded the whole time. The place is presided over by the warden, Hobbes, a carefully attired, soft-spoken sadist played by Jim Caviezel as if planting the flag for any Anthony Perkins-like weirdo roles that might come along in the near future. Also on the staff are an English enforcer, played by Vinnie Jones, and a doctor (Sam Neill) who might not have particularly wanted this assignment.

Most of Ray's time is taken up by Emil Rottmayer (Schwarzenegger), who notices how Ray is always observing guard behavior and checking things out. Aside from chatting him up at meal time, Emil saves Ray from a violent mob but then engages him in a fist-fight (“You fight like a vegetarian,” he insults his smaller opponent) and finally engages in a joint effort to find the stir's weak spot, not to mention where in the world they might be.

The interplay in the screenplay, by Miles Chapman and Arnell Jesko, ping-pongs between banal and dumb, but this is still preferable to the incoherence of the final stretch, in which Ray spends most of his time in a vertical chamber that keeps filling with and then losing water while mayhem breaks loose on board. The absurdities mount as director Mikael Hafstrom reveals who's been in cahoots with whom (including the leader of a sizable group of Muslim prisoners), how they figure out their geographic location and how the good guys, as always, are so much more accurate shots than the company goons. And in one hour, any rewrite expert in Hollywood could have come up with a dozen better “Hasta la vista, baby”-type taglines for Arnold than the ultra-lame salutation he uses here.

Still, Schwarzenegger, sporting salt-and-pepper hair and a becoming goatee (there is actually a “Look for Mr. Schwarzenegger created by ...” line in the final credits), comes across as unusually energized, much better than he did in his first post-governator starring vehicle, The Last Stand, which was released in January. Near the end, Rottmayer tells Breslin, “I hope I never see you again.” A feeble wish: The two stars will be back on screens together again next August in The Expendables 3.
