This week, Google released version 2.0 of its My Tracks app for Android smartphones and tablets. My Tracks is a location tracking app that uses a device's GPS sensors to record paths that the user takes in their travels. While it has always been possible to view paths recorded by My Tracks in Google Maps and Google Earth on a desktop computer, version 2.0 of the app adds the ability to play back a recorded path in Google Earth for Android. Additionally, the app now aggregates statistics over time and includes improved charts and stat tables that are easier to read. Google also says that My Tracks 2.0 features a simpler and faster interface. My Tracks 2.0 for Android is free and can be downloaded from the Google Play Store now.
